This professional experience placement provides ākonga with opportunities to develop the professional knowledge, skills and dispositions required to work in a school/kura. Ākonga are introduced to pedagogical skills, bi-cultural practices, and professional behaviours to ensure inclusive and respectful relationships with tamariki, parents, whānau and communities.
This course builds on ākonga understanding of high-quality early childhood teaching. Ākonga will continue to develop their understanding of the Te Whāriki approach to learning and teaching, including assessment and planning approaches.
This course provides ākonga the opportunity to describe community integration and gain an in-depth understanding of the services and resources that are available within their community to support their work. Ākonga will be able to identify and apply workplace risk management tools and strategies. Risk management tools and strategies are linked to the organisation’s workplace policies and procedures. This course explores ethical practice within the health and wellbeing setting, specifically focussed on the disability sector.
