Ākonga will be able to identify and apply workplace risk management tools and strategies. Risk management tools and strategies are linked to the organisation’s workplace policies and procedures. This course explores ethical practice within the health and wellbeing setting, specifically focussed on the disability sector.

At the successful completion of this course, ākonga will be able to:

  • describe the process of community integration for tāngata whaikaha, family and/or whānau they support and reflect on their role within this process
  • describe local services and resources relevant to tāngata whaikaha, family and/or whānau they support in a disability support setting
  • describe risks for tāngata whaikaha they support, family and/or whānau, workers, and others in a disability support setting
  • describe and implement tools and strategies that contribute to the safety of tāngata whaikaha in a disability support setting
  • describe policies, procedures and resources used to assist in responding to risk-related issues in a disability setting
  • reflect on own ethical practice as a disability worker.
