At The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, we strive to provide services that support your safety and wellbeing throughout your entire study journey with us.
The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 (the Code) exists to support and protect the wellbeing and safety of all tertiary learners (both domestic and international) enrolled with New Zealand education providers.
Open Polytechnic has agreed to observe and be bound by The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021, published by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), to ensure we’re evaluating and fulfilling our student support commitments.
What is the Code?
The Code for learner wellbeing and safety outlines the responsibilities of your education provider in promoting and supporting your wellbeing and educational success.
The Code exists to ensure that your needs are heard, respected, and upheld throughout the duration of your studies.
As a learner at Open Polytechnic, you can expect to be:
- safe – physically and mentally
- respected and accepted for who you are
- supported in your learning and wellbeing
- connected with your social and cultural networks and
- able to have your say in decisions about our services
Below is an overview video of the code from NZQA
Who is the Code for?
The Code for learner wellbeing and safety covers all domestic and international learners studying at tertiary level, including you, as an Open Polytechnic learner. It covers those studying in New Zealand, online, or offshore.
Every learner enrolled with us is protected by the Code and by NZQA.
