Ākonga will reflect on their personal journey with te reo Māori, and their professional commitment as bicultural, bilingual and biliterate kaiako focused on supporting Māori ākonga achieving educational success as Māori in early learning and school settings.
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Discuss the relevance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to all New Zealanders by examining the bicultural partnership between Māori and the Crown, and significance of Aotearoa New Zealand as a bicultural nation and a multicultural society.
- Examine the purpose and use of a range of teaching resources to support bilingual, biliterate and bicultural practice in early learning services and schools.
- Evaluate their competency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and plan for continuing to develop te reo Māori knowledge and skills for everyday use, particularly teaching.
Assessment
100% internal assessment but does include attendance at a noho marae.
