Business-minded Mary-Jo (MJ) Waterworth decided to study a Bachelor of Applied Management by distance so she could continue to work and look after her family.
Thinking of her career goals, MJ chose the Bachelor of Applied Management to help launch her business. She says, “I wanted to learn about a broad range of skills that would help me in my future goal of establishing my own business focused around event management.”
MJ wanted to fit online learning in-between working in administration for a veterinary clinic, marketing a newly established homewares store and supporting her family. She says, “Online learning gives me the flexibility and opportunity to complete my degree, while I could still work and take care of my family.”
Joining the Student Advisory Group in 2019, MJ says, “I wanted to give feedback based on the viewpoint of a working parent. I also wanted to be able to also give back to Open Polytechnic for all the help and support they have provided me and felt this would be a great way to do it.”
MJ started studying a Bachelor of Applied Management in 2017, had a couple of Trimesters off after having her daughter and is now back looking to finish in 2020.
