It requires you to understand and apply strategies for supporting inclusion in education support settings with specific reference to children needing additional support. You will explore resources and systems to support teaching and learning, engage with educational technologies and develop a bicultural resource. You will learn to plan and implement a group learning opportunity to promote children’s language, literacy and numeracy learning and to evaluate this to inform your ongoing personal, professional education support practice.
What you will learn
When you successfully complete this online course you will be able to:
- Discuss social diversity, including Māori perspectives and Pacific approaches, for providing education support in Aotearoa New Zealand including Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the status of Māori as tangata whenua.
- Demonstrate understanding of inclusive practices for learners who need additional support in the education support context.
- Describe resources and systems for supporting teaching and learning, including the use of educational technologies.
- Develop a resource to support planning of a bicultural learning opportunity in an education support setting using te reo Māori me ona tikanga.
- Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of a learning opportunity for a small group of children to foster inquiry learning, using an integrated approach for language, literacy and numeracy learning.
