This online course will introduce you to several psychological disciplines and show you how psychology advances through scientific research.

It examines general topics such as how people perceive the world around them, how the brain works, and how we think, feel, learn and remember. It also provides a foundation in the nature of research and how psychologists use scientific methodology.

What you will learn

This course looks at:

  • history and perspectives in psychology
  • research methods in psychology
  • biological bases of behaviour
  • sensation and perception
  • the nature of consciousness
  • learning
  • remembering and forgetting
  • thought and language and theories of intelligence and intelligence testing.

It complements 73196 Social & Individual Psychology, which teaches the remaining introductory psychology topics.
