Sustainability and New Zealand

You will explore the concept of sustainable development in depth and analyse the impact of production and consumption patterns on New Zealand’s environment. You will also critically evaluate responses to issues surrounding unsustainable patterns of resource use.

Topics covered include:

• sustainable development debates
• the interrelationships between economic growth, environment quality and social well-being
• production and consumption patterns in New Zealand
• responses to sustainable development issues; and
• approaches used to measure progress towards sustainability.

Assessment

This course is 100% internally assessed.
