Entry Requirements

To enrol in this programme you need to have:

  • University Entrance, including NCEA Level 3 with three subjects at Level 3 made up of:
  • Physics with a minimum of 14 credits
  • Mathematics with a minimum of 14 credits, and
  • One other subject with a minimum of 14 credits from the list of approved subjects;
  • Literacy - 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of 5 credits in reading, 5 credits in writing; and
  • Numeracy - 10 credits at Level 1 or above (specified achievement standards, or unit standards 26623, 26626, 26627).

If you do not meet these requirements, but consider your self adequately capable of studying the BEng Tech, as you possess equivalent knowledge required for entry through other programs of study or work experience, please do talk to us.

20 years or over

If you are 20 years of age or over and do not hold the minimum entry requirements you will be eligible to be enrolled where your previous educational, work or life experience indicates you have a reasonable likelihood of success.

English language requirements

Domestic students for whom English or Māori is not their first language must also have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with writing and speaking scores no less than 6.0 and reading and listening scores no less than 5.5, or equivalent.

This programme is delivered online. To complete this programme you will need access to a laptop or desktop computer, reliable broadband internet connection and a data plan able to support online learning such as streaming of videos (including YouTube), downloading content, and writing and submitting online assessments.
