Entry Requirements
To enrol in this programme you need to have University Entrance, including NCEA Level 3 with three subjects at Level 3 made up of:
- Physics with a minimum of 14 credits
- Mathematics with a minimum of 14 credits
- One other subject with a minimum of 14 credits from the list of approved subjects.
You also need to have:
- Literacy - 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of 5 credits in reading, 5 credits in writing; and
- Numeracy - 10 credits at Level 1 or above (specified achievement standards, or unit standards 26623, 26626, 26627).
If you do not meet these requirements, but consider yourself adequately capable of studying the BEng Tech, as you possess equivalent knowledge required for entry through other programs of study or work experience, please do talk to us.
20 years or over
If you are 20 years of age or over and do not hold the minimum entry requirements you will be eligible to be enrolled where your previous educational, work or life experience indicates you have a reasonable likelihood of success.
English language requirements
Domestic students for whom English or Māori is not their first language must also have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with writing and speaking scores no less than 6.0 and reading and listening scores no less than 5.5, or equivalent.

You can not study this programme if you are:
- an international student living overseas
- a New Zealand student living overseas.
