Fluid Mechanics (Civil)

This online fluid mechanics course will introduce the principles of fluid mechanics and apply them in civil engineering hydraulic applications.

Learners who successfully complete this online course will be able to:

  • Apply the principles of fluid statics and dynamics.
  • Analyse pipelines and pipe networks.
  • Analyse uniform and non-uniform open channel flow.
  • Determine the operating characteristics of pumps in a range of pipeline systems.
  • Evaluate the operation and application of a range of equipment used for the measurement of fluid flow in open and closed conduits.

Assessment:

  • 50% internally assessed
  • 50% examination.

Lab requirements

A 2 ½ day practical laboratory is a requirement of this course. This may entail travel to a provider outside of your region.

We try to schedule these Labs for T2 during the school holidays however this is subject to change.
