New learners

New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Small Business) (Level 3) (Version 1) is closed to new learners.

 A new Te Pūkenga programme (Version 2) of this qualification will open for enrolment in the coming months.  To be notified when the new version opens for enrolment, register your interest here.

 Update for re-enrolling learners

Learners who were already enrolled in New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Small Business) (Level 3) (Version 1) prior to 24 May 2023 can continue to re-enrol and complete their qualification. 

Please note, to be awarded Version 1 of this qualification you will need to be enrolled in your last course(s) by 27 June 2023, and complete all course requirements by 31 December 2023.  Alternatively, learners can cross-credit courses from Version 1 into Version 2 of the programme. 

Please go to the 'choose courses and apply' tab to see a table which outlines the completed courses you will be able to cross credit into the new Te Pūkenga programme (Version 2).

  • Behave professionally and ethically and in a socially and culturally responsible manner, and apply personal and interpersonal skills to contribute to the assessment of small business opportunities.

Level 3 programme (NZ2454):

  • You will be able to assess small business opportunities and understand the requirements for establishing the business.
  • You will develop a creative and cohesive ‘’toolbox’’ that allows you to think thoroughly about the needs for opening a new business.
  • The focus will be about learning how to transform a business idea to become a business plan.

Level 4 programme (NZ2457):

  • You will have improved capability to establish, operate, grow, and sustain a small business.
  • You will be able to apply a deeper level of the skills and knowledge required to successfully achieve this.
