Ākonga examine the documents in depth in relation to their own subject specialisation/s. They also engage with a  range of strategies to enhance engagement and achievement in a secondary context.

Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Analyse the intent of the New Zealand Curriculum and the National Certificate of Educational Achievement and critically evaluate how these are being enacted in schools within specialist areas.
• Apply a range of assessment principles, theories and models in specific curriculum areas
• Apply specific strategies that enhance the engagement and achievement of Māori and Pacific tamariki/rangatahi
