The licensing criteria for early childhood services provide a framework for learning about requirements that have been developed to foster young children’s health, safety and wellbeing in early childhood settings and their implementation in practice with young children.  You also learn about Māori as tangata whenua and the cultural heritage of both parties to Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and the role of government agencies and community services in supporting kaiako in their early childhood settings.  The principle of Kotahitanga (holistic development) and Mana Atua strand of wellbeing in Te Whāriki (2017) are a focus. You will be required to apply these requirements and concepts in their professional practice with young children.
