This course introduces a range of research methodologies required by early childhood teachers to be effective teacher-researchers. You are taught skills to critique a range of published research to assist them to engage in research, beginning with the development of an educational research proposal.

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to

Discuss the characteristics of research and distinguish between major approaches to research
Identify and demonstrate understanding of key elements of a robust research process
Explain differences between research methods and methodologies, and critically evaluate the methodology used in selected published research.
Select the most appropriate methodology for an early childhood research investigation in a chosen area of interest
