Are you new to business? Have you started a business and want to grow it? Or do you simply have a great business idea? Wherever you are in your small business journey a certificate in small business from Open Polytechnic will give you the skills and knowledge to help you get there.

Have an idea for a small business? This qualification will give you the skills and knowledge to explore and assess opportunities and understand requirements for establishing a small business. You will have the skills to do this in a multi-cultural environment.
What you will learn
When you achieve this qualification, you will know how to:

identify and evaluate a business opportunity (or opportunities) that is relevant in terms of own abilities, interests, and preferences.

develop an establishment plan that assesses the feasibility and viability of a small business opportunity.

identify technology needs to effectively operate a small business.

assess the importance of business relationships with stakeholders for a small business.

NZ2457 New Zealand Certificate in Business (Small Business) (Level 4)
Already own or operate a small business? This qualification will give you the skills and knowledge to establish, operate and grow your small business. You will have the skills to do this in a bi- and multi-cultural environment.
What you will learn
When you achieve this qualification, you will know how to:
- Develop a business plan for a small business, which is suitable for external stakeholders, and which addresses management of finances, HR, marketing, technology; relationships with stakeholders, sources of information and support.
- Operate and manage a small business to improve business performance and meet stakeholder requirements.
- Behave professionally and ethically and in a socially and culturally responsible manner, and apply personal and interpersonal skills to manage a small business.

This zero fees offer only applies to the programme’s course fees.
It does not include provision of any textbooks, or any other additional fees incurred by a student. These will remain the responsibility of the student.

When you enrol in the programme or a course you need to fill in the enrolment form. Payment will not be required to complete your enrolment application (subject to terms and conditions).
Who is not eligible for this zero fees offer
You are not eligible for the zero fees offer if you are an international student.
You are not eligible if you have already completed a similar or related qualification at a higher level.
