Course Progress is a feature in your course information on the MyOP homepage designed to help you understand how you are progressing though your course content.
We’re hoping it will motivate you in your studies and, along with your course study guide, help you to stay on track with your studies and complete your assessments on time. Watch the video to learn more:
What course progress shows
The course progress graph shows:
- Your progress line – the line shows how far through the course content you are over time. It comes from the percentage of learning units (or pages) that you view each week. It only tracks the first time you look at a page and will update once a day.
- A shaded area – this shows the typical progress of learners who completed and passed the course over the last 12 months. It is made up of anonymous data from learners whose progress lines fall within the middle 50% of those learners – or the 25% and 75% quartiles.
- Assessment and exam dates – these are plotted in the middle of the shaded area at the date they are due. Assessment extension dates will not show (but they will show on the course information on the MyOP homepage).
The graph starts at -2 weeks before the course starts because this is when learners can usually access their online courses and assessment information.
Why we’ve added this feature
For some learners having a visual indicator of where they are up to in their course and a guide to work towards is useful and motivating, and can be reassure learners that they are doing ok.
But if that doesn’t work for you, that's ok too. If you are comfortable with the pace of your studies and have a plan for how to approach them and complete your assessments by their due date, that is great! All our learners are different, and so study in different ways.
About the data used in course progress
Where the data comes from
With online learning we can see how learners interact with their course content, including when and how often a learner logs into their courses and how far through the courses they are over time.
This data is used to make the shaded area. It is anonymised from learners who completed the course in the last 12 months. No current learner data is included.
Privacy
Because the course progress graph is in MyOP only you can see your own progress information. No other learners can see your data.
We collect, use and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, and as authorised under the “Privacy Statement” in our Terms and Conditions of Enrolment. You agree to this when you enrol to study with us.
If you contact a staff member to ask questions about the course progress feature or talk about your own progress, they can look up your information and a version of your graph in a secure report. Only staff who work with learners such as Course Facilitators, Student Mentors and our Customer Services team have access to this report.
Why the graph may have shown up part way through your course
Our online courses have several different cohorts working through them at a time, with groups joining the course every month. So, when we turn on the course progress feature for a course it shows for every cohort.
