Role at Open Polytechnic
It is always a pleasure to help students build their information-seeking and assignment skills, watch them grow and then hear about their study success. I enjoy helping students figure out how to get the most out of using the Open Polytechnic library. Coming to grips with how to use our e-book collection, request hard copy books, and find articles in our databases and beyond is a great way to gain confidence and get ahead with your study.
I work to make sure students have plenty of relevant material at their fingertips for completing their assignments by collaborating with staff in Construction, Engineering, Environment, Horticulture, Information Technology, Interior Design, and Trades over what material we need at the library. I also support tutors in these subjects with sourcing the best information resources for course development and research.
I went into the workforce straight from high school, but eventually felt held back by a lack of qualifications. So I enrolled in a level 3 course in 2010, while working. Starting out, I felt scared, but I tried my best and kept on plodding. Over 100 assignments later, this year I hope to cross the finish line on a Masters degree in Information, studied by distance.
