Aleeshea Reid

I am an Academic Specialist, Learning Design and Development, Foundation, Bridging and Transition (FBT)

Relevant Education and Work Experience

I have worked in Foundation Education for many years as a tutor and as a trainer and advisor to tutors and educators. Foundation education is such an exciting area to work in as it a privilege to be able to give learners a really positive experience of education and get them excited about learning.

I have worked in secondary, polytechnic and Corrections based education settings.

I have a Masters degree in Adult literacy and Numeracy Education as well as qualifications in e-Learning and secondary teaching.

Research interests

I am interested in learning about the way that learners build their contextual literacy and language understanding in different vocational and foundation programmes, the way individuals transition from one literacy context to another and the barriers that exist for individuals in engaging with community and social services due to their literacy challenges. Any research in building engagement for foundation learners re-engaging with learning is also of interest.
