This course prepares learners to safely operate sterilisation equipment, read and interpret chemical and biological indicators, and apply nationally recognised sterilising to ensure reusable devices are effectively reprocessed.

Students who successfully complete this online course will be able to:

  • Identify sterilisation methods and their microbiological basis and validation methods.
  • Interpret physical, chemical, and biological indicators when operating sterilisation equipment.
  • Apply procedures for the release, storage and transport of sterilised items to maintain sterility assurance.
  • Apply standard operating procedures in quality assurance.

Course pass requirements:

To pass this course students must achieve a minimum of 50% in each assessment, demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes, and have completed the work experience hours requirement.

This online sterlisation technology course will enable you to develop practical skills in storing, tracking and distributing sterile items. The course includes an introduction to quality systems including audits, recalls and documentation processes that support safe, patient centred healthcare.
