This online sterlisation technology course will enable you to apply infection, prevention and control principles and workplace protocols in accordance with nationally recognised sterilising standards.
Students who successfully complete this online course will be able to:
- Identify hazards and safety considerations for handling reusable medical devices.
- Apply decontamination procedures for reusable medical devices using both manual and automated cleaning methods in accordance with nationally recognised sterilising standards.
- Apply procedures to inspect, assemble and package instruments ready for sterilisation in accordance with nationally recognised sterilising standards.
- Complete traceability documentation accurately to support load tracking, quality assurance and patient safety.
- Apply policies and procedures in accordance with nationally recognised sterilising standards, including validation, documentation and routine monitoring requirements.
Course pass requirements:
To pass this course students must achieve a minimum of 50% in each assessment, demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes, and have completed the work experience hours requirement.
