This online course will help you to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies to understand the legal system and creation and interpretation of law and to find and apply relevant law.

What you will learn

When you successfully complete this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the system of government and the creation and interpretation of laws in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Apply law relevant to contracts, fair business practices, competition, and consumer protection in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.
  • Apply the law of negligence to situations in the Aotearoa New Zealand context
  • Analyse the principles of ownership and risk associated with transfer of ownership in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.

Assessment

  • 50% internally assessed
  • 50% exams, which you need to attend in person.
