EventsOur QualificationsOpen Polytechnic kaimahi (staff) unveiled two new Sterilising Technology programmes to attendees at an industry event in Christchurch recently.

The conference was an opportunity to introduce Open Polytechnic’s new Level 4 qualification to Association members, while engaging with exhibitors of sterilisation technologies and services.
This year’s conference theme was Sterile Sciences: Aiming high, flying high, which focused on the innovation, collaboration, and progress that lifts the profession and strengthens the community.
The trade exhibition at the conference included product ranges, consumables and great learning opportunities like our offerings.
Coinciding with the start of the Level 4 programme, Fleur and David were able to discuss the qualification and network with relevant delegates across public and private health providers.
“The conference provided us with an excellent opportunity to meet face-to-face with industry providers and employers about the learning opportunities that might be available for them, utilising Open Polytechnic’s new programmes,” says Jackson Ertel, Commercial Manager.
The Level 4 qualification provides the minimum requirements for employment as a sterile services or endoscopy technician, with potential progression to senior technician roles and other related roles and occupations.
Open Polytechnic also offers the New Zealand Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 3), for zero fees (conditions apply), which will teach ākonga (learners) sterilisation procedures in an office-based health service organisation, such as beauty therapy clinics, general medical practices, or tattoo parlours.
Both programmes are offered fully online.
