Entry requirements

To study this programme you need to have university entrance. This includes 14 credits at Level 3 from approved standards in NCEA mathematics.

If you don't meet this criteria, you may be eligible for admission with the approval of the Programme Manager.

IT project requirements

BIT701 IT Project, a compulsory courses for all students in this programme, is a learning experience that occurs in a professional context.

To do this course you need to identify and negotiate an agreement to conduct a project with a host organisation or employer.


Computer and online access

courses in this programme are online. This means you will access the course content online. You will also submit your assignments online.

For online learning and assignments, you need to have regular access to a computer or device, and reliable internet access.


International students and domestic students living overseas

You can study this programme if you’re an international student living in New Zealand. You need to be working part-time, with a verified work permit.

New Zealand citizen living overseas may be able to study this programme, if you can make suitable arrangements for project work. 

You cannot study this programme if you are an international students living overseas.


English language requirements

English is the language of study at Open Polytechnic. You must be able to read and write well in English so you can understand course materials and submit written assessments.

If English is not your first language you must meet our requirements.
