You will learn to use and analyse diagnostic assessment for planning and programming for English as required by the New Zealand curriculum. Promoting an equity perspective you will learn to acknowledge, utilise and build on the language in which tamariki are fluent.
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Apply current theoretical models and approaches to reading, writing and oral literacies.
- Analyse reading assessment data to determine next steps in learning.
- Critique strategies that will enhance the literacy acquisition of all tamariki including those who have English as an additional language and those who have difficulty reading.
