Kua Hii Ake te Ata - Study Award

Tēnā koutou katoa,

Kei a mātau he pūtea moni hei awhi i ngā tauira Māori. Ko te tūmanako ka whai mai koutou e hiahia ana ki tēnei momo āwhina.

We are pleased to offer our Māori students the opportunity to apply for financial assistance. We hope those of you interested will apply here.

Purpose

Our Kua Hii Ake te Ata Study Awards are aimed at encouraging and supporting our Māori students towards completing a Level 4 or above qualification

How to apply

A SECOND ROUND OF APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN ON 1ST OCTOBER CLOSING 30TH NOVEMBER

 

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application in December once all results are confirmed.

Complete the application form below and return to the Māori office maorioffice@openpolytechnic.ac.nz by 30th November 2018.

 

Criteria and Conditions

Applicants must:

  • be currently enrolled at the Open Polytechnic
  • have successfully completed courses towards achieving a qualification e.g. half of a diploma (3 courses) or a full year of degree study (6 courses)
  • provide proof of New Zealand Māori heritage
  • provide evidence of financial need; you will be asked to briefly describe how the Study Award will assist you financially
  • agree to the Terms and Conditions laid out at the bottom of the application form.

Verification of Māori Heritage

An authorised person must attest to your New Zealand Māori Heritage. Please provide the contact details for the authorised person who can confirm your iwi affiliation.

An authorised person can be a Kaumatua, Justice of the Peace, Solicitor, Māori Liaison Officer, registered teacher or authorised person at your Runanga Office. It cannot be a sibling, spouse, parent or grandparent.

Referees

The referees may be contacted by the Study Award Selection Panel to support your application and 
comment on your personal qualities. Referees cannot be family members, but could be a tutor, kaumatua, minister or community leader, employer or supervisor.

For each referee, provide their full name, email address, contact phone number and relationship to you.

 



Terms and Conditions

  1. Previous Kua Hii Ake te Ata Study Award recipients are not eligible to re-apply.
  2. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  3. The Open Polytechnic reserves the right not to grant Study Awards should the selection panel consider there are no suitable candidates.
  4. All decisions are final and correspondence will not be entered into.
