This course is designed for in-service school teachers intending to become more confident teachers of mathematics and advocates for mathematics. It provides you with an opportunity to identify, prioritise and develop an informed response to the challenges of mathematics teaching affecting your students.

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to

  • Demonstrate knowledge of a range of current issues and challenges affecting modern mathematics teaching in schools.
  • Analyse the context to identify and prioritise key challenges to be addressed.
  • Develop and utilise professional networks and literature of the field to identify and evaluate potential responses to priority challenges.
  • Plan strategies to address a key challenge within their scope of influence.
