If you are interested in working with and caring for children, a career in out-of-school care and recreation may be right for you. This programme will give you the skills to be able to work with children in before and after school care and holiday programmes. If you’re currently working in OSCAR, the certificate is a good way to gain formal recognition and new skills which you can apply straight to your job. You will study two courses and volunteer or work in an out-of-school care programme for three hours per week.

You will need to study for about 7 hours a week for each course in this qualification to successfully complete them within the enrolment period.

Our open courses are open for enrolment every month. Each open course starts on the first Monday of the month you choose for enrolment. You must complete your study within the given start and end dates.
This qualification is internally assessed through workbook-type assessments that include written and practical tasks. Some of these tasks will need to be verified by your supervisor or another suitable person at work. There is no exam.
