If you have NCEA Level 2 or equivalent and are thinking of taking up tertiary study for the first time, or you have been away from study for a while, the Open Polytechnic Certificate in Tertiary Study Skills is a good place to start. The first course covers techniques and strategies for studying and how to apply them to your own learning. You will learn about study skills, time management, academic writing, information literacy, referencing, plagiarism, essay and report writing skills and studying online.

Standard annual administration fee still applies, but is waived for holders of a valid Community Services Card. Community Services Card holders need to send in a scanned copy of their Community Services Card at time of enrolment.

TSS444 Tertiary Study Skills and your Level 5 elective course are internally assessed with no examination. Your assessments need to be word processed and submitted online.
