If you use sterilisation procedures within a health service organisation, the Certificate in Sterilising Technology is the qualification you need. Recognised by the New Zealand Sterile Services Association (NZSSA), you will learn practical skills for reprocessing reusable medical devices, from receipt and cleaning through to high level disinfection, sterilisation and storage.
For each credit, allow about 10 hours of study. This may be higher near assessment due dates.

This qualification will prepare you for a career as a sterilising technician in hospital or office-based sterilising environments. You may also be able to progress into senior technician roles or other related roles and occupations.
Graduates who wish to continue their knowledge and skill development in reprocessing of reusable medical devices may enrol in the Certificate in Advanced Sterilising Technology (Level 5).
Our open courses are open for enrolment every month. Each open course starts on the first Monday of the month you choose for enrolment. You must complete your study within the given start and end dates.
