This degree is approved by the New Zealand Teachers Council for professional registration. It will prepare you to work in a variety of early childhood settings. It's the ideal qualification if you want to build a career in early childhood education.
If you hold a Diploma of Teaching (ECE) and are a registered teacher with a current practising certificate, you may be eligible for an upgrade option.

With our Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) You can continue to work while you study - and you can fit your study around family and any other commitments.
It offers a blended approach, which includes online learning with forums so you can connect with your tutors and other students, and face to face workshops. While studying, you'll be supported by qualified and experienced lecturers who are available for advice and support.
How it works
We have three different entry categories to cater for different students. Each category has unique requirements and starting points.
If you do not meet any of the category requirements, but would like to discuss your study options please get in touch.
If you completed with a Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) from Open Polytechnic no more than six years prior to application and have a provisional or full practising certificate then this option is for you.
If you have a provisional or full practising certificate and three-year Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) from another tertiary provider or completed the Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) through Open Polytechnic more than six years prior to application then this option is for you.
If you are currently working as an early childhood teacher and do not fit the Upgrade A or Upgrade B category – you might be eligible for Upgrade C.
