Workload indicated above is the minimum study time you need to put in to complete the course. To meet the assessment due dates you need to study approximately 10 hours a week.
This course forms the backbone of your understanding of design. You will look at environment, space, house design, line and form, materials and textures, natural and artificial light, and indoor/outdoor flow. Within a given space you will look at function, form, focal points, rhythm, proportion, human scale, and variety in unity. Symmetrical, asymmetrical and radial features are also studied. There are five design activities for you to work through to extend your knowledge.
