Environmental and natural resource management is a rapidly expanding field in New Zealand, driven by the growing requirements of environmental legislation and public demand for enhanced environmental management practices. An essential knowledge area in this field is an understanding of ecology. This course is designed to provide you with an understanding of ecological processes and the key characteristics of New Zealand’s terrestrial and aquatic environments. You will examine critical factors underpinning ecological sustainability, explore current issues in conservation and evaluate approaches to ecosystem management in New Zealand.
