At Open Polytechnic we specialise in flexible, distance and online learning that is designed to help you fit study around your work and life commitments.
We’re an international leader in the field of flexible distance learning, with 70 years’ experience helping students throughout New Zealand and overseas gain qualifications that are highly valued by employers.
When you enrol with us you’ll have access to a range of support services that are designed to help you learn where and when it suits you. These services include:
• online learning
• high quality learning resources developed specifically for distance learning
• tutors and lecturers experienced in distance teaching
• support to help you plan your studies.
You’ll also be able to connect with other students through online through your course pages, and through our Online Community, Facebook and Twitter.
Whether you want to learn new skills to help you in your current career or to change careers, we have a range of qualifications to help you achieve your goals.
We offer courses at level 3 and 4 on the National Qualifications Framework, up to certificates, diplomas and degrees at levels 5–7. The level a course is set at indicates how hard it will be. Levels 1– 4 are about the same as secondary school and basic trades training, while levels 5 – 7 are the same as university study.
Many of our programmes let you build on your previous study, to gain more than one qualification. For example, we can help you plan your study so that you can start by gaining a certificate then do additional courses to gain a diploma, and continue your studies to achieve a degree.
If you need to top up your skills before you focus on a qualification, check out our Certificate in Study and Career Preparation or Certificate in Tertiary Study Skills.
