My Open Polytechnic

My Open Polytechnic is our online service portal for our students. From My Open Polytechnic, you can access all the online services and support available to you. The My OP home page is made up of widgets - from where you can quickly access all the information you need:

    • Links to Online Campus, the Library and the Open Polytechnic website (where you can find qualification information and enrol in your next course.
    • Qualifications & courses – view your latest assessment due dates and course results on your My Open Polytechnic homepage, or click through to view all your qualification and course information including final results.
    • My courses in Online Campus – go direct to a course page in Online Campus in just one click from the My Open Polytechnic homepage
    • My Study Plans – go to your latest study plan, or find out how to create a study plan.
    • My Favourites – a place where you can bookmark links to useful web pages and your favourite websites
    • Office 365 ProPlus – giving you access to online versions of Microsoft software from anywhere you have an internet connection, plus if you're a current student you can download Microsoft software to your computer for free
    • Key dates – links to enrolment dates, exam dates and the request an assessment extension form.
    • Useful information – updated regularly, this will contain information to support you through your studies, from starting your course to applying to graduate.
    • Updates – view latest updates from Open Polytechnic.
    • Facebook, Twitter and YouTube – see our latest posts, tweets and videos so you don’t miss a thing.

You’ll also find quick links to information about how to manage your study, study tips and techniques, and the Learning Centre. Plus, important alerts – we will notify you in My OP if there’s anything you need to know that may affect your study, like scheduled online maintenance.

My OP app

My Open Polytechnic is now available as a mobile phone app - so you can keep track of your assessment results on the go! Download the My OP app from the App Store for iPhones or Google Play for Android phones.

Office 365

Office 365 gives you access to online versions of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. You can view, edit and save your assignments to OneDrive (with unlimited free storage space) from any computer with internet access, so you really can study when you want, where you want – never lose an assignment again if the unthinkable happens and your computer dies! 

Office 365 also gives you access to Outlook, including a free @myopenpolytechnic.ac.nz email account, online calendar and organiser. You can access Office 365 by logging in to My Open Polytechnic and clicking on the My Office 365 link.

Office 365 ProPlus

If you are currently enrolled in a course, you now have access to Office 365 ProPlus. ProPlus includes all of the online Office 365 software, but also enables you to download the latest version of  Microsoft Office to your computer. You get 5 licences to download additional copies of the software onto any Windows or Mac PC you want. Also, if you download the Microsoft apps from the Apple App Store or Google Play store, you’ll be able to access all your files that you have saved to your Sky Drive account from your mobile or tablet device.

To download a copy of Office 365 ProPlus to your computer, log in to My Open Polytechnic:

  1. Click the My Office 365 link
  2. On the Office 365 page, click on the gear icon at the top right of the page and choose Office 365 Settings
  3. Select Software 
  4. Click Install to begin the download
  5. Follow any onscreen prompts to complete the install.

To access Office 365 from your mobile or tablet device:

  1. On your device, open the App Store or Google Play Store
  2. Search for Microsoft Office Mobile (depending on your device, you may need to individually install each component - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install
  4. Once installation is complete, open the application
  5. Enter your @myopenpolytechnic email address and the password you use to log in to My Open Polytechnic (you can find out your @myopenpolytechnic email address by logging in to My Open Polytechnic, and looking at the Office 365 ProPlus information)
  6. Follow any remaining onscreen instructions and Microsoft Office Mobile should be ready to go.

Note: Due to the size of the download it can take some time for the install to complete. If you have any issues downloading the software, here are some general troubleshooting links from Microsoft:

HP offer for Open Polytechnic students

If you need a new desktop PC, Notebook or Printer, HP has a special discounted rate on selected products for Open Polytechnic students.

To receive your HP discount simply:

  1. Visit www.hpshopping.co.nz
  2. Register and login using your student email address (@myopenpolytechnic.ac.nz - you can find out your @myopenpolytechnic email address by logging in to My Open Polytechnic, and looking at the Office 365 ProPlus information)
  3. Browse and add items to your cart
  4. At checkout enter the voucher code OPENPOLYTECHNIC and follow the onscreen instructions

Online Campus

Online Campus is your online study hub where you’ll find course materials, study resources, student forums, and contact details for your lecturers. You can access a range of services. For example you can:

  • locate and submit assignments
  • link to web pages specific to your course, including frequently asked questions (FAQs), assessment hints, web resources, staff information, and sometimes online quizzes and tutorials
  • communicate with other students in your course and with your lecturer
  • access the library.
