Open Polytechnic supports Māori advancement by providing vocational learning to a significant base of Māori learners throughout the country.
Specific performance measures are set for objectives relating to Māori, and the results are analysed and reported publicly at least annually. In 2009, te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi became a key performance indicator for all Open Polytechnic staff.
Each year, as a companion to our Annual Report to the Crown, we also publish a separate report to Māori – Te Pūrongo-Ā-Tau – which is distributed widely within the Māori community. We believe this further improves the transparency of reporting and accountability.
