The Student Advisory Group provides feedback to Open Polytechnic senior management and Council which gives a student perspective on Open Polytechnic products and services, issues and initiatives that affect students, and also acts as a critical sounding board in the development of new ideas at Open Polytechnic.

Diploma of Psychology graduate, Joanne Jennings, joined the Student Advisory Group to provide feedback to the Open Polytechnic from the perspective of a student who is both working and has a potentially disabling health condition.
Abigail Willemse, Waikato, joined the Student Advisory Group as she believes student feedback is a valuable way of improving services.
Fourth year National Diploma in Architectural Technology student Amanda Cameron says she joined the Student Advisory Group as a way of sharing her ideas and helping out current and future students.
Bachelor of Business (Accounting) student Ben Carmichael joined the Student Advisory Group because he is passionate about distance learning and sees it as a great method of study for people who are in the workforce.
Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences) and Diploma in Health and Human Behaviour student, Nancy Sutthoff has been studying with the Open Polytechnic since 2010.
Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management student, Rob Golsby joined the Student Advisory Group as a way of being able to offer the Open Polytechnic valuable feedback.
Shannon has completed the New Zealand Diploma in Business through the Open Polytechnic and is now currently studying towards her Bachelor of Business with a Human Resource Management major.
