Study with us
Because we supply high-quality materials designed for independent study, students can work on their Open Polytechnic courses with minimal classroom supervision, and because learning is self-paced, students can progress at a level that suits their ability and other commitments.
Students have full access to Open Polytechnic’s learning support services, including access to our Library.
Note: Our experience has shown that students with support from parents, school staff and other students are more likely to succeed in their study, so we encourage schools to provide guidance and/or supervision where possible.
Our wide variety of courses means an individual’s specific learning choices can be catered for with no requirement for minimum student numbers.
Students can enrol in as many or as few courses as are appropriate. Further enrolments into additional units is possible at any time (although a few exceptions apply).
Students can enrol in most courses at any time of the year within the school contract period.
Learning is easily co-ordinated by the school and Open Polytechnic, and for most courses, there is no need for the students to be transported anywhere.
Many Open Polytechnic school courses staircase into further tertiary study options with Open Polytechnic or other tertiary providers. This means students can continue with their studies whether they remain at school or enter the workforce and want to continue as a student after leaving school. Most courses can also be credited towards either the National Certificate of Educational Achievement or national qualifications that are registered on the National Qualifications Framework.
Note: Students and parents interested in our programmes for schools should contact their school for more information. Because these programmes are offered to schools utilising funding from the Ministry of Education, we can only offer the courses through the school.
