The Ministry of Education’s National Student Index system allocates you a unique National Student Number (NSN) automatically when you provide your tertiary provider with evidence of your full legal name, date of birth, residential status and gender. The NSN identifies you and provides basic data that the Ministry can access. Your unique NSN stays with you for life.
Note: This number is different from your Open Polytechnic student ID number, which identifies you in our administration systems.
We aim to process enrolments as quickly and efficiently as possible, but the processing time can be affected by whether you are a first-time or returning student, whether you meet all our entry requirements and how you are paying the fees. At peak processing times, such as trimester close-off dates, processing enrolments can take slightly longer.
Processing your enrolment will also be slowed if we do not have all the documentation we need.
If you have enrolled in a print-based course, your course material will be sent when your enrolment is confirmed and the material is available. Your enrolment is confirmed when we have all the documentation we need and you have paid your fees.
