OP7010 BAppSci Information Systems & Technology Major

Graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Science with a major in Information Systems & Technology will obtain knowledge and skills in the IS&T field, with a focus on applying these skills to a range of practical situations.

Our Information Systems & Technology programmes are suited to people involved in business analysis, systems analysis, database design, systems development, and IS&T management or seeking professional careers in these areas.

As an IS&T graduate you will be able to;

  • Analyse, design, test and implement business information systems to fulfil organisational needs
  • Construct or manage the development of systems
  • Make justified technology-related decisions in a business environment
  • Manage the operations of information systems and technology at all levels
  • Provide and implement solutions to issues related to data communications and information management
  • Provide for the social, legal, security and ethical aspects inherent in the implementation of systems
  • Resolve management issues in an IS&T environment.

Level of study

Hours of study

We suggest you begin your studies at Level 5 and work your way up to the next levels. You may gain a maximum of 160 credits at Level 5 and a minimum of 80 credits at Level 7.

If you want to complete your degree in three years you will need to gain 120 credits a year. However, if you are working and studying part-time, we suggest you begin with one course. A 20 credit course will take about 180-200 hours of study over 17 weeks, and a 60 credit course will take about 500-600 hours over 40 weeks.
