OP7005 BEngTech Civil Engineering Major

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology with a major in Civil Engineering is designed for people with an aptitude for mathematics and science who would like to work as technologists with professional engineers.

Civil Engineering technologists are concerned with the design, construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, building structures, water and waste-water plants and environmental protection works. The BEngTech (Civil) enables you to hold a responsible position within an organisation's management team in a local authority, a consulting engineer's practice or for a civil engineering contractor.

Programme structure

This major comprises 24 courses (22 core and 2 elective courses) and five practice units. The Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is offered for study on a part-time basis i.e. one or two courses can be studied per trimester (up to a maximum of 10 years to complete).

Students who wish to study more than one or two courses per trimester must have successfully completed the equivalent of one year full-time study (i.e. 8 courses) in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology programme, before their request will be considered by the Degree Convenor.
