OP5271 Diploma in Communication Studies (Level 5)
The Diploma in Communication Studies (level 5) emphasizes key skills in and knowledge of communication. This is an entry level diploma designed for people who want a first qualification in Communication, those considering a career in Communication, and those who are starting on a pathway to a degree with a major in Communication.
The diploma provides graduates with the skills and knowledge to: write business and technical reports; prepare and deliver oral presentations; evaluate communication systems; relate their understanding of the communication process to global issues; and critically examine cultural, societal, interpersonal, and ethical issues in communication.
The alternate core structure of either business or human communication provides students (on the advice of the programme leader) with clear pathways from the Diploma into the BA or BAppSci degree. A maximum of 2 courses can be credited to the Diploma in Strategic Communication (level 6).
