Levels of study

Your programme of study leads to a qualification and is usually made up of a number of courses. In some programmes all courses are compulsory (core), while in others you may be able to select your courses from a list of options (electives).

In addition, each course is classified at a level from 1 to 7, reflecting the intellectual demand and complexity of skills required. Levels 1 to 4 are of approximately the same level as senior secondary education and basic trades training. Levels 5 to 7 lead to qualifications at degree level.
