This course will enable you to identify client needs for service and for independence in using libraries and seeking information, to propose strategies for achieving this, and to explore the means of facilitating such programmes.

What students learn
Students will be able to- Explain the nature of information literacy and its significance in the information society
- Explain the reference encounter and discuss the interpersonal and behaviour skills required by the librarian to facilitate the reference interview
- Analyse the relevance of different methods of user education within various library types.
