About the course

The main purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the operational employment practices and policies used by HRM practitioners to support the effective management of human resources in their organisations. It also discusses how students should effectively implement a number of key employment related practices, be aware of any limitations these methods may have, and of the role as a manager of people.

This course is an optional paper for the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Applied Science degrees offered by The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand. It is a compulsory paper for the Human Resource Management major. It is a recommended paper for 71226 Employment Relations and is a prerequisite for 71333 Strategic HR Applications.

• Demonstrate critical awareness of current and future trends and influences in human resource management.
