Information about textbooks

Set texts

Some of the courses offered by Open Polytechnic may require you to purchase a textbook, or set texts.

Your Programme Guide contains a textbook listing detailing the specific textbook requirements for each course and giving you information about how to purchase them.

In most cases textbooks can be purchased from Tertiary Texts, and you can also visit their website to check the textbook requirements for your course, how to order your textbooks, and how much they will cost.

Recommended and additional readings

Most courses also have a list of recommended and additional resources. You will receive information about these with your course material. These resources can generally be borrowed through the Library.

The Library does not lend set texts.

Often the recommended resources for your course can also be purchased from Tertiary Texts, but you are advised to try the library first.

Secondhand textbooks

You can purchase and sell second hand texts via the Online Campus

When buying a book, check editions carefully. An out of date edition may be cheap but it will probably contain out of date information.
