Enrolment Policy for International Students studying in New Zealand

The Open Polytechnic enrols international students who wish to study part-time while resident in New Zealand.  Applicants must have a valid work permit for the duration of the course applied for and a Variation of Conditions issued by the Immigration Department.  We do not enrol international students in New Zealand while on a student or visitors permit.

Timeframe for Enrolment

Applications for a Variation of Conditions can take up to 6 weeks to be granted by the Immigration Department.  If you meet the conditions for enrolment and wish to enrol in a Trimesterised or fixed term course students need to ensure that applications are received by the Polytechnic at least 8 to 10 weeks before the advertised cut off date for enrolment.

Withdrawal and Fees Refund Policy for International Student.

The withdrawal and fees refund policy for international students is the same as for domestic students.

Conditions for Refund on Withdrawal

Open Enrolment Courses

The application to withdraw must be received no later than 14 consecutive days after the official date of enrolment.

Fixed period Enrolment Courses (Trimesterised)

The application to withdraw must be received no later than 14 consecutive days after the official start date of the fixed enrolment period or trimester.

Transfers and Extension of Enrolment Period for International Students in New Zealand

If the transfer or extension applied for is outside the end date of the Variation of Conditions we are unable to approve any application.
