Shona Butterfield Scholarships

A scholarship for students with a disability has been established in honour of former Open Polytechnic Chief Executive Shona Butterfield, who resigned in March 2003 after 14 years in the role.

The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage New Zealanders who have a disability to achieve their full potential in their area of study. Successful applicants will be provided with the opportunity to study in their own home, supported by freephone access to lecturer, library and other services.

The scholarship is available to students who have a disability and who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand. The scholarship will be an award of up to $5,000 available to an individual student (over a period of up to two years) to cover course costs and funds for textbooks.

Applications for the scholarship will need to be with Open Polytechnic by 10 January, 2011.
