Scholarships
Each year the Open Polytechnic offers a range of scholarships to help those who wish to undertake tertiary study with us.
The scholarships have been established to help students overcome financial hurdles that may prevent them from achieving their study aspirations. For more information click on the links below.
Shona Butterfield Scholarship
The Shona Butterfield Scholarship is available to students who have a disability. Offered annually, it is available to one or more students (Over a period of up to two years) to cover course costs and funds for textbooks.
He Putea Tautoko - Study Awards 2010
The He Putea Tautoko Study Awards, are to encourage and support the Open Polytechnic Māori students towards completing a qualification.
Applicants must:
- be currently enrolled at the Open Polytechnic
- have successfully completed their 2009 Open Polytechnic courses
- provide proof of New Zealand Māori heritage
- provide evidence of financial need.
Applications close on 24 April, 2010 and successful applicants will be notified by 30 May, 2010.

Pacific Study Awards 2010
The Pacific Study Awards, worth $1,000 each, are to encourage and support the Open Polytechnic Pasifika students towards completing a qualification.
Applicants must:
- be currently enrolled at the Open Polytechnic
- have successfully completed their 2009 Open Polytechnic courses
- provide proof of their Pacific heritage
- provide evidence of financial need.
Applications close on 24 April 2010 and successful applicants will be notified by 30 May 2010.

Student Assistance Fund
We administer a Student Assistance Fund, to help pay tuition fees for students in financial need and for whom a loan is not a realistic option. A grant may be approved to cover all or part of your tuition fee. For further details about how to access the Student Assistance Fund, contact us on 0508 650 200.

Jubilee Trust
This is a scholarship awarded once a year by the Jubilee Trust for students with a disability undertaking tertiary study.
Rotary Club of Port Nicholson Inc. - Goal Setter Awards 2010
The Rotary Club of Port Nicholson Inc. invites applications for its annual Goal Setter Awards, more information.
Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP)
The Entrepreneur Development Programme is an experiential full time in-house programme lasting up to two years and has scholarships available, which are designed to assist students to start high growth businesses while they study or, once they have completed their studies. Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarship
The Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarship aims to promote higher education amongst Maori. It was created by the Maori Soldiers Trust Act in 1957 and is administered by the Maori Trust Office.
The Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship Trust
Applicants for this Scholarship need to be New Zealand Citizens, mature women students, 25 years of age minimum. Study should be undertaken in New Zealand.

Mike Pero Mortgages Tertiary Scholarships
Three tertiary education scholarships, two worth $5000 and one worth $2,500, are being offered again this year by the Mike Pero Mortgages Foundation, for students planning their first year of tertiary study in 2011.

Quantum Technology 2010 What You Need Now Scholarship
Quantum Technology is excited to announce the 2010 WYNN (What You Need Now) Scholarship, which is intended to assist students who have been assessed as having a learning disabiilty such as dyslexia. The Scholarship is open to students in primary, secondary or tertiary education.
