Online or print based

Options for your course materials

You can study 24/7 365 days

When you study at the Open Polytechnic your course materials might be offered in any one of three ways:

  • a print based course
  • a blended course where you may work online and have some resources in print or CDROM
  • a fully online course.

In a print based course your learning guide and resources are sent to you. You work through the material and post or submit your assignments through the Online Campus.  You can complete your study without using the Online Campus, but we provide additional teaching and learning resources there to help your learning.

In a blended course you’ll be expected to do some work online.

In a fully online course all your work and resources are delivered through Online Campus.

Whenever you use Online Campus you’ll find other helpful resources, including links to the online library service and learning support.

Communication

However you choose to study, you can communicate with your lecturer by phone or email or through forums on the Online Campus.

When you learn online you can share the excitement of learning with your fellow learners, complete activities collaboratively, use the internet for finding resources and deliver your assignments electronically.

Help and support

When you study at the Open Polytechnic, help is always on hand. These people are here to help you:

  • your lecturer
  • other learners
  • library staff
  • the Service Desk for technical support, and
  • the Learning Centre.

Studying online

At the Open Polytechnic we make careful choices about how the courses will be delivered to you. For example, the Bachelor of Business programme has an online component because we know that it’s essential you are prepared for the business world by being comfortable working online.  When you use the internet for study, you have access to resources, other people and points of view. When you e-learn you meet the world!
